(Van Nuys, CA – June 11, 2008) Today, more than 300 people will participate in a full-scale, simulated aircraft accident that will test the capability of Van Nuys Airport’s emergency management system. The Air Exercise (AirEx) will be staged today from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on the restricted airfield adjacent to the Los Angeles Fire Operations and General Services Buildings off of 16617 Arminita Street. The VNY Air Exercise will test emergency responders and mutual aid providers in a real-time, stress filled environment in which personnel, equipment and other resources are mobilized and deployed.
(Los Angeles, California – June 2, 2008) The Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners today awarded a contract to Professional Building Contractors, Inc., of El Segundo, for a portion of Van Nuys Airport’s (VNY) Residential Soundproofing Program. The $1,943,700 contract covers sound insulation modifications on 125 dwelling units (two single-family dwellings, two five-unit apartment buildings, one 65-unit apartment building and 48 condominium units).
WHAT: | A squadron of World War II vintage AT-6 Texan aircraft will fly in formation to announce Santa’s arrival at Gault Street Elementary School in Van Nuys as part of a special holiday celebration sponsored by Van Nuys Airport. Santa will arrive via antique fire truck to spread holiday cheer and hand out gifts donated by local businesses and community members to more than 500 children. With Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck as his elves, Santa will read "’Twas the Night Before Christmas" to all participating students. Festivities will include a performance by the Van Nuys High School marching band and a fun-filled juggling demonstration.Excellent opportunity for holiday visuals. |
