VAN NUYS AIRPORT ADOPTS NEW NOISE RESTRICTION NON-ADDITION RULE EFFECTIVE JUNE 10
Van Nuys Airport (VNY) officials are notifying pilots of a new noise restriction, the Non-Addition Rule, that took effect on Saturday, June 10, 2000. The Non-Addition Rule is an amendment to the existing Van Nuys Noise Abatement and Curfew Ordinance that was adopted by the Los Angeles City Council in 1981.

VAN NUYS AIRPORT MANAGER RECEIVES FAA AWARD
(Van Nuys, CA)- Van Nuys Airport Manager Selena B. Birk will receive an award from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for her work in overseeing a state-of-the-art security identification badging system at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Recognizing the importance of that contribution to the aviation industry and recommending it to other airports nationwide, the FAA will present her with a certificate of appreciation at the Board of Airport Commissioners’ regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, June 6, 2000, at 10 a.m.

(Van Nuys, CA)- Students from the Airlines Occupations class of James Monroe High School will participate in Job Shadow Day on Wednesday, March 29, for an inside look at the many jobs and types of businesses that flourish at Van Nuys Airport, the world’s busiest general aviation airport. The program is in conjunction with "Groundhog Job Shadow Day 2000" sponsored by Junior Achievement of Southern California.

FLYAWAY BUS TERMINAL PROJECT MOVES FORWARD
(Los Angeles, California – March 7, 2000) Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners has awarded a contract to Daniel, Mann, Johnson and Mendenhall, Los Angeles, to provide design and construction administration support services to improve the Van Nuys FlyAway Bus Terminal at Van Nuys Airport. The FlyAway provides convenient, 24-hour, daily, inexpensive park-and-ride bus service between Van Nuys and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

The Van Nuys Airport Aviation Expo, slated for June 24 and 25, will showcase the most impressive lineup of aerial performers ever in the show’s 37-year history.

An estimated 300,000 spectators are expected to attend the free weekend air show, scheduled about a month earlier than usual, to enjoy all-day flying demonstrations and displays of some of the world’s most celebrated military and vintage aircraft.
