VNY Hosts AAAE 2017 General Aviation Conference
Amid an atmosphere of increased safety, security and preparedness in aviation, Van Nuys Airport was excited to host the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) 2017 General Aviation (GA) Issues and Security Conference from August 20-22, 2017. As one of the world’s busiest general aviation airports, served as an appropriate backdrop to address topics related to the GA community.
The annual gathering incorporates an interactive format into sessions focused on tackling the most challenging issues that face general aviation. Many aviation executives and professionals lent their expertise to this collaborative dialogue, analyzing current industry trends to help better prepare airports for the challenges ahead. Airport directors, employees, business operators, pilots and other aviation stakeholders and community members experienced a robust agenda, with topics of interest including federal funding and regulatory issues, residential through-the-fence agreements, developments in security, wildlife management, drone use and more.
Attendees were also treated to an evening out at Air Hollywood, a unique aviation-themed studio near VNY, with historic and unique aviation memorabilia and tours of the sets and stages that Air Hollywood uses as popular backdrops for film and television. Scenes from Bridesmaids, Wolf of Wall Street, Lost and countless others have been filmed with Air Hollywood, which is also in possession of the cockpit from the 1970s comedy film Airplane!
“We were fortunate to have so many aviation executives at VNY,” said Diana Sanchez, VNY Public & Community Relations Director. “The collaborative effort we see with these industry professionals is what drives our aviation community to be safe, productive and efficient for everyone.”
