Businesses are Going Green at VNY

The Aeroplex/Aerolease Group recently became the first VNY tenant to be certified in the City of Los Angeles Green Business Program, with a similar project in the works at Western Jet Aviation. The program provides free assistance to help and encourage L.A. businesses to become more efficient and sustainable.

Among several sustainability measures that businesses can implement include recycling programs, reduction of water consumption, and solar power integration. Plans for Western Jet Aviation include new solar electric systems that will generate electricity and reduce carbon emissions. These green measures, in combination with others around the airport, seek to drive responsible environmental stewardship and promote a sustainable business. Ultimately, the goal for VNY is to have all fixed-base operators (FBOs) green certified by the end of 2018.

The Green Business Certification Program involves meeting program standards for resource conservancy, minimizing waste and mitigating pollution, in conjunction with environmental law and regulation compliance. The program incentivizes environmental best practices, and each certified business receives a City of Los Angeles Green Business Certificate, listings in promotional partners’ websites, green resource guides and more.
